M1 Trip to Bletchley Park

On Thursday, M1 went to Bletchley Park as part of their Maths studies on coding. Bletchley Park was the central site for British codebreakers during World War II. Run by the Government Code and Cypher School (GC&CS), it regularly penetrated the secret communications of the Axis Powers – most importantly the German Enigma and Lorenz ciphers. The official historian of World War II British Intelligence has written the Ultra intelligence produced at Bletchley shortened the war by two to four years, and without it the outcome of the war would have been uncertain. The students really enjoyed the experience and learnt a great deal about coding.

Social Media Competition- #DwightTakeover.

The students have been doing a fantastic job on SnapChat, Twitter and Instagram. You can follow us @Dwight_London on Instagram and SnapChat and DwightUK on Twitter to see what they have been up to!
The winners will be announced next week!

MUN at Dwight
As mentioned last week, our D2 students will now be picking up from where they left off before the mocks and will be preparing for the Dwight School London Model United Nations. Many M2 and M4 students will be involved on the 14th December in what will be, I am sure, a very engaging day.

D2 Mock Exams

Well done D2! The mock exams are now completed, with one of the intentions having been to give the students a run through of what it is like to experience an intense period of exams. Plenty of feedback will be given and used to shape the teaching from this point on. There will still be new material to cover, but as soon as possible teachers will be working with the D2 students on a revision programme in readiness for the IB exams in May. However, as has always been the case with these things, the hard work has to come from the students.

Development Tuesday

Next week, 13th December, we have an extended staff meeting, allowing for professional development - consequently school will be ending for the students at 2.40pm instead of 3.40pm.

End of Term

As usual in December, we will be breaking up at 12.00pm on the last day of term - Friday, 16th December. The buses will leave at 12.00pm and if you usually pick up your son or daughter, please do ensure that this is done on time. We wish you all a very enjoyable winter break and hope that you are all able to enjoy plenty of family time together.

Upcoming Trip Information

D1 and D2 ESS Trip
On Monday, 12th December the IB Diploma ESS students will be visiting the UCL Institute of Education. Students will need to bring their Oyster cards, a packed lunch and a note pad and pen.
