Year 4
At Dwight School London we are proud to have been authorised to offer the IB Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) since 2004.
Dwight School London children from Kindergarten through to Year 6 learn through the IBPYP, which offers a rich and stimulating curriculum designed to generate an enthusiasm for learning and value it as a life-long process. The IBPYP focuses on the development of the whole child and addresses social, physical, emotional and cultural needs through a comprehensive inquiry-based programme. The curriculum is transdisciplinary in nature, which means that with this innovative approach, students study various subjects under one theme. They also gain vital skills, which they apply as they work collaboratively with their peers. These skills encourage students to take responsibility for their learning as they ask questions to understand the world around them and explore topics that interest them. The subjects within the scope of the PYP at Dwight include:
- Unit of Inquiry - incorporating science, ICT, social studies, art, drama
- Language - English
- Language acquisition - French and Spanish
- Mathematics
- Innovation
- PSPE - personal, social, physical education
- Music
- Forest School
At the heart of the IB programme is the IB Learner Profile. The attributes of which all members of the school community strive to develop within themselves. Our academic programme is complemented by various field trips relating to the Units of Inquiry and a range of extra-curricular activities that are offered at our school.
