Spark of Genius Senior School Scholarships

From Will Bowry, Senior School Principal:

Dear Potential Dwight School London Scholar,

Thank you firstly for your interest in Dwight School London and the dynamic range of scholarships that are available to promote academic excellence and ignite your ‘spark of genius’. Scholarships at Dwight recognise not only excellence and potential in specific fields, but also the character, curiosity, and commitment that reflect our school values, as an International Baccalaureate school.

As part of the application process, we kindly ask each applicant to submit a short personal statement (no more than one page). This statement will help us understand more about your individual strengths, interests, and aspirations, and how that might align with the values of the Dwight School London community.

In your statement, please address the following:

  • Your motivation and suitability: Explain why you are applying for the particular scholarship category and why you believe you are a strong candidate. Share any personal qualities, experiences, or achievements that demonstrate your suitability.
  • Future aspirations (for applicants entering Year 10 and above): Tell us about the subjects you are considering for the IB Diploma Programme, and, if you have begun to think ahead, the areas of study or career pathways you may wish to pursue at university.
  • Specialist scholarships (Music or Drama): Please provide specific details of your experience and training. For Music, this might include your instrument(s), how long you have been learning, any grades or examinations you have completed, and the ensembles, orchestras, or groups you participate in. For Drama, you may wish to describe the productions or performances you have taken part in, the training you have received, and any relevant achievements. Music and Drama applicants are also required to submit a short video recording that demonstrates their ability.

We hope this reflection will not only support your application but also give you the opportunity to think about how your talents and interests connect with the rich opportunities available at Dwight School London. We look forward to learning more about you and to celebrating the unique qualities you would bring to our community and supporting your ‘spark of genius’.

Good luck!
Will Bowry
