This Week in Upper School

D2 Theatre Arts Performance
Tuesday evening saw Diploma 1 Theatre Arts students take to the stage and present their adaptations of Tennessee Williams' classics Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. These two performances finalised the Director's Notebook Unit in Theatre Arts which the students had been working on since October  - culminating in an evening that was enjoyed by parents, teachers, and friends.

Model United Nations (MUN)
Our MUN delegation is heading off to The Hague this weekend where they will join approximately 3000 other students from around the world. Our delegation is equipped with draft resolutions on a number of matters, and they will be working hard to get these resolutions merged with others and approved. We wish them all luck, along with Mr. Triol and Ms. Goddard who will be supporting them.

First Aid Training
All of our staff are first aid trained, but we shall soon be putting a number of them through an additional course which will enable them to become First Aid Instructors. We will then be looking at offering an Essential First Aid course to our students. Many thanks to the parents who have helped us to set this up, and to the St. John Ambulance who will deliver the course to the staff.

Spirit Week
We shall be having our annual school ‘Spirit Week’ immediately after the half-term break. A group of M5 students have been putting the programme together. As always, the curriculum will go ahead as planned, but there will be a range of entertainments on offer during break times.

M5 Information Evening
On 27th January, from 6.00pm all M5 families are invited to a follow-up meeting about the e-assessments that will take place in May. I understand that a process is already underway allowing families to submit questions they would like to ask. Please do try to attend this meeting (with or without M5 students) as we hope to be able to address any lingering questions that parents may have about the new e-assessment process.

Personal Project Evening
On 24th February we shall be giving the M5 students the chance to display their Personal Projects and we would like to invite all families and friends to come to celebrate their accomplishments. M4 families are encouraged to attend, as the M4 students will soon be beginning their Personal Projects. The evening will run from 6.00 to 8.00pm.

PHE Update
Our PHE staff are planning a Sports Day for early in the summer term, this will be in addition to the Athletics Day. This new initiative will include a number of sports on the same day, such as netball, football and basketball. We will update you with more information nearer to the event. Due to the availability of the swimming pool we will be unable to  hold a swim gala this year.
