Learning in the Lower School
It has been a lovely week weatherwise so throughout the the week we have continued to run Forest School activities. Kindergarten and Reception have spent time planting and watering flowers, and they look great. Year 1 have continued to develop their outdoor skills with Miss Tomlin and Miss Larragy. Year 2 managed to plant their tree this week and here is a picture of them with the tree.
Hello New York
It was fantastic to meet up with the Grade 5 students from New York this week.
Thirty one students and five staff flew over from Dwight New York on Saturday. They have had a lovely week in England (they can't believe how good the weather is!). They met up with our Year 6 students on Sunday for a fun picnic in Highgate Woods. They came into school on Wednesday to take part in a a variety of activities including music, drama, art and golf!
It is a great feature of the Dwight Schools, that we can make the world a smaller place by getting to meet and greet each other across the world. Our students really do get a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate their open mindedness and their inter-cultural awareness.
During their visit they went to the theatre, the Houses of Parliament, The Science Museum and even took a trip to the London Dungeons ( It was scary!!)
This week parents with children in years 1 to 6 should have received a letter informing them that we have launched an online tool called Seesaw. This will eventually take the place of our portfolio work and in its place we will have an e portfolio. We will be able to electronically share students' work, their learning and their progress via the tool. Please sign up and enjoy seeing the learning on your phones/laptops.
Ski tastic
I wanted to give a special mention to Charlie and Miya in Year 6 and Emma in Year 5. All three of them were selected for the Dwight School Ski team. Last week there was an inter-school skiing competition. This was an event that involved both Upper and Lower School students. There were over 160 students taking part from around the country. The venue was in Milton Keynes. All three students did incredibly well and they should be very proud of themselves. They gained a lot of experience considering it was their first ever race and they were all pretty nervous. All three students managed to keep their nerves in check and get on with the job in hand.
Charlie should be highly commended and he did so well considering he was racing in the under 14 category. Their effort and conduct was impressive - They were ski-tastic!
Clubs
Our Lower School Clubs have now started and I got a chance to see what activities our students are experiencing. On Tuesday I saw the Multi sports club who were playing a football type game in the playground (Gali in Year 5 demonstrated what a strong kick she had). In Magical Maths Club the older students were learning about denominators, (Christopher in Year 3 was good at this) and the younger students were matching numbers to sums. In Showstoppers Club the students were learning to be creative and to perform to one another (Ronika in Year 6 was a risk taker). Our Clubs offer students the opportunity to meet new people, try out different activities and learn something new.

Reminders and Key Dates
Reminders
- Uniform reminder: A reminder that students who have shoulder length hair should have it either tied back or away from their face using a headband. School shoes should be black, if your child is wearing a sports shoe it needs to be black all over, without a predominate different coloured logo. We also ask that students do not wear open toed shoes for health and safety reasons.We want to remind all parents that we expect all healthy students to attend school, all of the time. If time is required away from school for religious or holiday purposes they must ask permission from the Lower School Principal mparkin@dwightlondon.org.
- We want to remind all parents that as the temperatures are increasing we recommend wearing hats and applying sunscreen to your children during any hot spells.

Swingers West End takes crazy golf back to its seaside roots in a venue that reimagines the faded glamour of the 1920's English Riviera. We'll have a few drinks, play some crazy golf and celebrate the end of another great year at Dwight. This is open to all Dwight parents, so make it a date and bring your partner!
