Dear Parents

With only a few weeks until the M4/M5 PGL trip, we wanted to give you some more important information for the trip. You will have already received the school brochure attached here.


Address: Osmington Bay Centre, Shortlake Lane, Osmington, Weymouth, Dorset DT3 6EG


Depart time: Monday, 24th September at 9.30am from Jubilee Campus. Please arrive by 9:00am.


Approximate return time (depending on traffic): Friday, 28th September 7.00pm at Dwight.


We will be in contact with parents via Clarion call during the trip. In the event of an emergency, the trip leader Ashlea Mills can be contacted on 07799 880 227.

Bedding:

Students will be staying in rooms with beds, however the bedding itself is not provided so students should bring sleeping bags and pillows.


Clothing:

All clothing and shoes can potentially get wet and muddy during activities. Sturdy footwear (trainers/walking boots) are needed for all activities.

Students should bring jumpers/fleeces and old warm clothing for raft building activity.


Below you can find the recommended kit list. We do stress that it is not necessary to go out and buy all new and expensive kit to go on the course.

  • Suitable nightwear
  • Underwear (please note that for many activities, socks will need to cover your ankles)
  • Trousers/leggings for activities (not jeans)
  • 1 pair of trainers for activities
  • 1 pair of shoes for watersports (preferably old trainers)
  • Pair of dry shoes for evening activities
  • Fleeces/sweatshirts for activities
  • Long sleeved shirt/T-shirts (for activities where arms need to be covered)
  • T-shirts
  • Waterproof jacket (and trousers if you have them)
  • Hat and gloves (optional)
  • Baseball hat/sun hat (optional)
  • 1 or 2 sets of clothes for the evening
  • Other Items:
  • One towel for showering
  • One 'old' towel for wet activities
  • Plastic drinks bottle
  • Small rucksack/bag
  • Labelled bin bag for wet and dirty clothing
  • Washbag (including soap, shampoo and toothpaste)
  • Sleeping bag/duvet and pillow
  • Small amount of snacks
  • Money for lunch/snacks for bus journey (no more than £30)

 

Take into consideration when packing that there are 4 days of activities. Below is an example our trip schedule:

Mobile devices:

Students are able to bring mobile phones that can be used only in down time / in cabins. Students are also welcome to bring cameras and GoPros to activities. Students should leave other electronic items including laptops at home as well as valuables including jewelry. Please note: students are responsible for their own belongings which are not covered under school insurance.


Food and medical:

All meals are provided & special accommodations will be made for those needed.

In the event that your child needs any medication for the trip, please ensure that is packed with your child and you please email me with any special instructions.
