Learning in the Lower School | On Tuesday the Upper School choir and band visited the Lower School and performed for us. It was great to see so many students that used to be in the Lower School now being involved in the Upper School choir and band. They performed several songs and had all of the Lower School students and staff on their feet dancing and clapping by the end of the performance
This week as part of their Unit of Inquiry on Marketing, the Year 5 students ran some stalls on Friday. These included a glam stall, football competition stall, chocolate and marshmallow stall, emoji stall and cinema stall. They have spent time researching the products they think will sell the best to a specific audience ( Lower School students). They have then purchased the products, advertised and marketed them and then made them available for the Lower School community to purchase.
Year 6 ran three Prefect Clubs this week called Percussion, Singing and Comic Strip. These clubs are run by the Year 6 Prefects for the Year 3 to 6 students in the school. This gave the Year 6 prefects a chance to be teachers and to support learning during their clubs. Well done to Talia, James, Noah, Henrique, Nikhil, Zee and Cedric who gave up their time, planned lessons, arranged resources and sourced lesson locations.

| As we get close to the end of the school year it is always with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to some members of staff.
Firstly it is goodbye and good luck to Mrs. Carol Williams. Carol has been the school secretary for over 9 years. She has always greeted visitors in school and on the phone with a cheerful demeanor and a helpful disposition. She has helped to organise many school events and activities with calmness and her great organisational skills.
Goodbye to Mrs. Indra Duggan, who has been with us for 8 years. She has been instrumental in leading the school, providing support and training for our staff and enhancing our capacity as a group of life long learners. She has had a huge impact with helping us become a successful international school. In her most recent role she has been further developing the IBPYP.
Goodbye as well to Mr. Geoff Cusack, who has been with us for 2 years. He is our friendly Canadian PE teacher. He has always been willing to try new things and he has given our students lots of opportunities to develop their skills and sporting behaviour.
We will miss you and wish you all the very best, we thank you for moving our school forward and we remind you that our door is always open if you ever want to visit us.

| We will welcome two new members of staff to our Lower School team in September.
Hello firstly to Miss Ashlea Mills who will be joining us as a PE teacher, she is a qualified IBPYP and IBMYP facilitator. She has taught in both London and Melbourne, Australia. She is from Australia and we look forward to hearing from her soon. She will be visiting the Lower School next week.
Hello as well to Miss Katie Hendry who will join us as a teacher and will be based in the Lodge. She has sent us a little something about herself!
My name is Katie Hendry, I am newly qualified teacher who grew up in Groningen, in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, I completed my teaching degree at a course specialised in international primary teacher training. The course allowed me to gain teaching experience in national and international schools across Europe. During the 9 weeks that I worked at Dwight as a student-teacher in Year 2, I have already gotten to know the school, staff, children and parents a little bit, and am excited to get to know Dwight even better when I start working as a classroom teacher in September. I hope to contribute to making school an educational as well as a fun-filled experience for the children!
As a 'foreigner' in the UK, I am very passionate about sharing and respecting everyone's cultures and backgrounds and would like to see children doing the same in my classroom. After all, that is what makes international schools special! I enjoy reading, being outdoors, horseback riding, running, traveling to foreign places and spending my time with family and friends.

| This week our super question was to find out - Who is the king of Thailand? and our language of the week was Thai.
Well done to Jack in Year 4 who correctly informed us that King Rama IX is the King of Thailand and to Henrique in Year 6 for helping us to speak a little Thai.
Next week our question is to find out what was voted for on the 23rd June and the language of the week will be Vietnamese, the following week it will be sign language. | |
