| Well done, Ahaan in M2! Whilst the rest of M2 were enjoying an outdoor adventure on the Bushcraft trip, Ahaan was participating in intensive swimming training (25 km!) I am very pleased to report that all his hard work has been rewarded.
Last week he participated in the first round of County Championship qualifications. To his great credit he managed to secure automatic qualification into most of his events and he is now only 4 seconds away from his target of being in the top 30 in Britain for his favoured event: the 400m freestyle.

| Day of the Dead The Day of the Dead is a Mexican festival practised on November 1st and 2nd. It has its origins in ancient Mesoamerican cultures that blended with those of the Spanish, who arrived in Mexico in the early 1500s. Mexicans believe that the souls of the dead can return to the world of the living for those two days. It is a joyful holiday with gatherings held in graveyards, ofrendas and altars built for deceased loved ones, and children eating sugar skulls with their names on them and the traditional bread of the dead. This year, M3 Spanish students celebrated the Day of the Dead as part of their unit about Hispanic festivals where the global context is Cultural and personal expression; they learnt about all the intricate aspects and rituals taking place during this holiday. Some students designed their own masks and prepared presentations on Mexico, the Day of the Dead, and on the main artefacts kept in the Mexico room at the British Museum. After their presentations to their peers, they enjoyed a typical Mexican Day of the Dead meal at the Mestizo restaurant. We had a superb day! | |

| Look out for information coming next week regarding our annual International evening. This is a great community event that staff, students and parents all get to enjoy together. We cannot wait to celebrate our internationalism and sample foods from around the world.

| We will be hosting a choir festival for schools on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th November. The Dwight singers and musicians will be joined by a choir from the German School in Richmond and a group of keen and able singers from our Lower School - overall we will form a choir of approximately 50 students. Following a series of workshops and rehearsals during regular school hours on Thursday afternoon and Friday, we will then perform the songs that we have learned in a showcase on Friday (18th November) from 7-8pm at Jubilee. We are very excited as this event will not only strengthen our links with other local schools including our own Lower School but also showcase Dwight London as an inspiring and unique place for education both in curricular and extracurricular terms.

| Upcoming Trip Information
| D1 English Trip
D1 students will be attending the 16+ Question Time Event on Wednesday, 9th November. It is taking place at St. Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey and begins at 1.00pm. We will be leaving school form the Dwight Campus at 11.00am and all students should have their Oyster cards with sufficient funds to get them to and from the venue. They should bring either a packed lunch or money for lunch.
M5 Maths and Science Trip
On Friday, 11th November M5 students will be visiting the Science Museum in Kensington. All students need to bring a packed lunch.
