Julia Watson
As you have all heard from Mrs. Cobbin, Julia Watson, our Assistant Principal and Middle Years Coordinator, passed away on Wednesday after a long fight with cancer.

The news was shared with students and families at the first opportunity. Provision has been in place at school for those students who need time, space or a quiet word with a member of our pastoral team.

Many thoughtful and kind messages have come in, and we are in the process of organising an online book of condolences, the details of which will be communicated in the near future.

Quiz Night
As you may have also heard, we shall not be going ahead with the planned Quiz Night on Saturday, 25th February. A revised date will be communicated to you in due course.

Spirit Week
Julia always loved Spirit Week, and it has been a pleasure to see how school spirit has been lifted, even during this difficult week. The theme days and the special events have all been a great success and I am grateful to those who have been organising it.

Personal Project Evening - 6-8pm Tuesday, 28th February
We look forward to welcoming you all at the Personal Project evening next week. Please watch the student's promotional video here. This will also be an opportunity for families to meet my successor, Andrew Atkinson.

M5 Options and Activities
Mr. Johnson has issued a letter to all M5 students, about the subject choices they are making for IB Diploma. Please note that he would like these replies as quickly as possible.
M5 families will have received my second letter about planned activities for 14th to 16th June. Please do reply as soon as you can so that we can confirm arrangements.

School Photos
Class and group photos will take place on Thursday, 2nd March. These will include sports teams and music groups. New students and those who were absent in November will also be able to have their individual photographs taken.

Model United Nations
The week before our half-term break, Ms. Murnaghan, along with Mr. Wynter, took nine students to The Netherlands to represent Jamaica at The Hague International Model United Nations. The theme of the conference was Borders in a Globalised World. The students worked collaboratively with thousands of like-minded individuals from all corners of the globe. Topics included issues of Disarmament, Human Rights, Sustainable Development, the Environment, and the Global Economy. The conference spanned five days, with a short day in the middle, allowing schools to explore the Netherlands; our students went to Amsterdam. They visited various museums, shops, cafés, and restaurants, gaining an understanding of Dutch culture, as well as seeing one of the coolest cities in the world. The Conference was an astounding success, with all of our students making many speeches during the event and successfully contributing to various solutions.

A Letter to my Favourite Sport Celebrity
Some of our M2 students have been creating posters and writing letters to Spanish sport celebrities as a project related to their unit on Sports. They have researched various aspects such as sport training, career, hobbies and personal information. Their letters also state why they are so inspirational for our students. Hopefully this year we will have some answers back!
