Dear Parents,

Re: Residential Trip to France 2017

This residential trip is a great opportunity for students to reconnect as a year group after the summer break and to meet new students entering the year.  The activities that students participate in allow them to build life skills including teamwork, communication, resilience and self-reliance whilst improving their confidence in unfamiliar situations. In the case of M2 it involves the experience of visiting another European country and culture.

This is a multi activity and language trip to Château de la Baudonniere, Les Chambres 50320 La Haye-Pesnel, Normandie, France. It is an  inclusive part of our curriculum that will take place from Monday 25th September to Friday 29th September and  therefore it is compulsory.

The Chateau prides itself on providing language input, from activities to mealtimes. The children will be given the opportunity to be involved in many different activities. These will include wall climbing, bread making, canoeing and "a totally unique trampoline-basketball-volleyball game". We will also be going on various outings which will include a visit to the Market of St Hilaire, Cara-Meuh - an organic caramel farm- and the War Memorial of Caen.  Please note that although this is a language and activity mix, students that do not speak or have limited French will be able to progress and join in. All accommodation, food, activities and instruction are included as well as having 24-hour support from the centre team. Students will be accompanied by Ms. Rodrigue, Ms. Veschi and and Mr. Dominguez.  We will be sending out a Clarion call every day in order to give you updates. You will also be able to check our social media pages to view photos and accounts of our activities.

The cost of the trip has been included in your 2017-18 Term 1 invoice.

Over the summer, it is important that you make sure that your child's travel documents are in order. Each child will need their own up to date passport. If possible, each child should also have their own European Health Insurance Card. Please note that European Health Insurance Cards only apply to people registered with the NHS in this country, and it is completely free of charge. In order to obtain one of these cards, you can apply to:

Lost Property: please label everything, indelible felt tip pens are useful for this. Students are responsible for their own belongings – it may be useful to provide a list of items packed. Lost property is hard to track down after a visit and there is often a charge for returning items.

As this is a residential trip, please click here to complete the permission form which includes passport, visa-waiver, dietary and medical information by no later than Friday, 7th July.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
