Friday, 15th December 2017 Lower School Newsletter Learning in the Lower School Winter Fair We completed 2018 with a well attended Winter Fair on Thursday afternoon. There were several activities that the students could choose from. The Hoola Hoop competition was won by Audrey, and the Guess the Bear was won by Lucas. There were yummy cakes, glittery tattoos, sweet mince pies, great basketball shots, super Santa sessions, flowing football, hooked baubles, decorated trees, slippery slime and bundles of fun. Many parents, teachers and even a few Upper School students helped plan, arrange, set up and run the Winter Fair. Many thanks to all of them for making it such a nice community event. Elina in Y5 took action withing her advertising campaign and produced slime for the fair that she sold for 2 tokens each, making a profit of £43 for Save the Children. To view more photos from the fair, please click here. Clubs 2018 We have a range of Clubs available for Term 2. The link to apply for clubs is here and sign-up goes live at 4pm today, (Friday, 15th December). One of the suggestions students raised was Lego/Construction Club. It is great to try to meet the range of skills and talents in the Lower School student cohort and we will continue to do so each term. Please note that the sign-up will close at 4pm on Wednesday, 3rd January 2018. Curriculum Overviews Our website is always interesting and you may wish to see what learning opportunities we have scheduled for Term 2. The link for Kindergarten and Reception is here, Years 1 to 6 is here. It will give you a nice indication of what will be happening in your child's classroom next term. Reminders

Super Question and Language of the Week Our Super Question last week was: Which country celebrated its independence on 6th December? Well done to Karina who informed us that it was Finland. She gets a sparky for being knowledgeable. Congratulations to Rayaan in Y6 who was the first student to get 10 sparkies this academic year
Finally may I wish you all a great break. It is a pleasure to work at Dwight and to spend so much time with your children. Enjoy the festivities and we will see you again in 2018! Matt Parkin
