Dear Parents,

We are always striving to improve everything we do and ensure that all members of our community feel involved in our development. With this in mind, we have decided to put together a Dwight School Nutrition Committee. The idea would be that a committee will be formed with representatives from staff, parents, students and Holroyd Howe (our catering provider) from across the whole school. The committee would focus on the following areas:

  • Providing Holroyd Howe with regular feedback on service, food and any other suggestions that students, staff or parents may have (for example; setting up a snack service at break time offering healthy snacks).
  • Working together to reinforce the school's ethos and Three Pillars - with regards to service of food, behaviour of students, student voice etc.
  • To plan for special events across whole school for example family and staff BBQ's, cultural celebrations (Chinese New Year) or something that may link into a Unit of Inquiry.
  • To ensure that all stakeholders (students, staff and parents) feel they have a voice when discussing catering at school.
  • Continuing open communication with Holroyd Howe with regards to safeguarding issues for example food allergies, appropriate training for staff etc.

The committee would meet every half term, with our first meeting being scheduled before the end of this term. This means that we need parent representatives from both the Lower and Upper School.

If this is something that you would be interested in, please send me an email on or before Friday, 16th March. I very much look forward to hearing from you!

Kind regards,

Kate Hornshaw
