Dwight Parent Association Newsletter

Welcome

Dear Parents

Last week was a busy one for the DPA. We held our Annual General Meetings at both the Lower and Upper School. A huge thank you to the parents who took the time to come in and support the development of our school community. Planning has already began for some of our usual events such as the Lower School disco and Winter Fair, but we are excited to also be introducing some great new events suggested by some of our new families. This year is sure to be a fun filled one! These events are not just about fundraising, they are for our families to have fun and socialise together and to create a positive atmosphere and enhance our children's experience whilst they are at Dwight. New ideas are welcome and your help is appreciated. After all, many hands make light work!

The AGM resulted in the appointment of a new committee, details are listed below if you would like to contact them:

Hello all! I'm Angela and I'm your new DPA chair and I am so excited for the year ahead working with all the parents. I have two children in the Lower School, in Year 2 and Year 3 and two in the Upper School, one in  M4 and the other in M5. In my spare time I love to read and I'm a really keen runner. You can catch me in my evenings watching a lot of crime thrillers. I look forward to meeting you all soon!

Back to School BBQ

Saturday's welcome back BBQ was well attended with new and current families, it was so lovely to have everyone together. The tables were over filled with food and drink and the sun even decided to join us. Thank you so much to everyone that came and for all the delicious side dishes and desserts. It was the first of many great events we have planned for the year.

Out and About Events

Chiswick House and Gardens

Date: Friday, 21st September
Meet: 9:00am West Finchley tube station or 9:45am Waterloo Rail Station ticket area.
We'll travel by Southwest Train out to the house.
Cost: £7.50 House entrance + your train and lunch costs

Chiswick House is among the most glorious examples of 18th-century British architecture and makes a lovely day out in West London. The third Earl of Burlington, who designed this Roman-style Palladian villa, drew inspiration from his Grand Tours of Italy. We will tour the house and have lunch in the cafe.

This requires you to be a point of contact for new families should they have any questions or concerns about moving to London.
