Often when parents and staff share with me what they most like about Dwight, they refer to the family atmosphere of the school; the family-like atmosphere across the school built on the strong relationships between different members of our school community. Dwight London is also part of the bigger Dwight family of Dwight schools.

 

We had the pleasure of welcoming our extended Dwight family during our Choir Festival and we hope to host exchange students from Shanghai again in the summer term. We are looking forward to joining our extended family for the music festival in Shanghai in February and in New York for the Year 6 exchange visit in May... Read more...

Scholarship Deadline

The deadline for Dwight means-tested scholarships, which are aimed at families who would otherwise not be able to afford a Dwight education for their children, is quickly approaching. If you have friends or colleagues who may want more information about the scholarships available please forward this flyer to them, or ask them to contact the admissions department at admissions@dwightlondon.org. The deadline is Friday, 23rd November.

Lower School Reminders
 

Book Fair

Next week is our Book Fair. A percentage of the profits taken goes back to the school to invest in more books for our library. Thanks to Mrs. Mastoridis and the Dwight Parents Association for helping to prepare this event and to run it. We are also giving our students the opportunity to take part in some book competitions this week, the winners will be getting book vouchers and House tokens for all entries. More information is available here.

 

Year 5 Trip

Year 5 are on their trip to the Science Museum on Monday, 19th November, they will be leaving and returning within the school day. They will be asking questions about space and they have already created some lovely dioramas, posters and even a nebula! These are on display in the main corridor, please do come and have a look and ask them questions about what they have found out.

 

Maths Day

On Tuesday, 20th November we will celebrate our Maths Day with all of our students across the Lower School. This event has been organised by Ms. Dunaway, who is our Maths Coordinator. I know that she has several exciting maths activities lined up for Tuesday and I will be able to share some pictures and feedback in next week's newsletter.

 

Phonics for Parents Workshop

On Tuesday, 4th December the Lower School will be running a Phonics for Parents workshop after the Lower Primary Christmas performance. During the workshop, we will go through the terminology used in school while teaching phonics, how we teach a phonics lesson and how you can best support your child at home. The session will run from 10 am - 11 am in the Lower School Library.

Upper School Reminders
 

M5 Anne Frank Monologue

On Thursday, 22nd November at 6.30pm in Jubilee Hall M5 will be sharing their monologues. Please come along to support the M5 students in their original adaptation of the Anne Frank story. After the play we would welcome your feedback in our post question and answer session. Refreshments served from 6.00pm in H1. RSVP to fkennedy@dwightlondon.org

 

Safe Drive, Stay Alive
On Thursday, 29th November, Diploma Students take part in Safe Drive, Stay Alive Road Safety Campaign. This is an event with powerful, personal testimonies designed to make the audience aware of the tragedy and suffering a road traffic collision can cause. This innovative road safety campaign is free of charge for schools and is aimed at young people, aged between 16 and 18, who may be new drivers, about to learn to drive or passengers in cars driven by their peers. It is run in partnership with London local authorities, London Ambulance Service, London Fire Service, the Metropolitan Police and Transport for London. 

  

M2 French Trip: Bread Ahead Trip Rescheduled

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are having to reschedule the M2 French trip to Bread Ahead. This will be postponed for a couple of weeks, however, we will hold payments for when it is going ahead. Please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Danvers with any further questions or queries. 

 

Mandarin Trip

On Monday, 3rd December the MYP Mandarin students will be visiting China Town to explore Chinese Culture. The students will be leaving Spahn Campus at 9.30am and returning for 15.00pm. We will be paying for travel, however, your son/daughter can bring £30 for shopping and lunch. Please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Lee with any further questions or queries.
