Dwight Parent Association Newsletter

Welcome

Dear FIRSTNAME,

Hello and welcome back to the second half of Spring term. I hope the break has recharged you and you are ready for another six weeks of school. As usual, it will be a busy one for the Dwight Parent Association with a disco and international evening amongst other events.

Thank you!

A huge thank you to the DPA to those who attended our first Casino Night on the 9th of February. The night was a huge success and was definitely worth the chance we took in organising it instead of sticking with the usual Quiz Night.

We were able to gain a profit of £400. My thanks to everyone who helped to organise everything leading up to the event and those who helped on the night as well, especially to the students of D1 and M5 who diligently made the night move along smoothly. I would like to make a special mention of the companies involved who also made the night possible, without them it would not have been such a sucess. Poker Vision for providing the professional tables and croupiers, Just Cos for the delicious food and The Haven Bistro who provided our first prize of a meal for two with wine. Congratulations to our winners, Maria Sushko (Year 1 parent) and Huseyin Dermis  (D1 parent).

International Evening

The Dwight Parent Association would like to invite you to the annual International Evening being held on the 8th March from 6.30pm in Jubilee Hall. This event is usually in November but was moved to March to coincide with Language and Literature week. International Evening is a time for us to celebrate and show how proud we are of the rich diversity of culture and ethnic backgrounds of our community. What better way to do this than to share delicious foods from around the world?

If you would like to bring a dish for the evening, please register on this form here.

Language and Literature Disco

On Friday, 8th March, Dwight Parent Association will be holding a Language and Literature Disco for students in Years 3-6. The DJ has been hired to play an assortment of music and games for the students. This will take place in the school hall from 6.30pm - 8.00pm.

The cost of the disco is £5 which includes the entry fee as well as drinks and snacks.

If you would like your child to attend, please pay the £5 entry fee via your child's WisePay account.

Could you be a parent buddy?

The DPA are looking for more parent buddies for new families arriving at Dwight London. As a parent buddy your role would be to welcome a new family to the school and have the opportunity to discuss questions or concerns they may have. The Parent Buddy co-ordinator will connect you appropriately based on language and year group. For more information please contact dpa@dwightlondon.org.

Raffle Donations

The DPA are in urgent need of items to use as raffle prize for future events. If you have your own business and can donate your products or services or have a close relationship with someone who can, then please let us know at dpa@dwightlondon.org. In the past we have had beauty treatments, personal training as well as branded merchandise. We also welcome unwanted gifts… One's Trash, Another's Treasure.

Cake Sales

Year 1 hosted a cake sale on the 15th February and made a fantastic £115.20

Year 2 will host the next cake sale on Friday, 29th March.
