Technology Boost in the Makerspace Room A Makerspace Room contains tools and components, the goal is to work together to learn, collaborate, and share ideas.
We have been upgrading and promoting our Lower School Makerspace Room over the last few weeks. The Makerspace room is next to our Year 5 classroom. It is often used as a breakout room for small groups and their teachers. It now has a dual purpose as it is set up to accommodate several features of technology including a green wall for videoing, a lego wall for sharing models, a section on stop motion animation, a virtual reality section for writing and recording VR and we even have a 360 camera. All of these tools can help our students uncover ideas, work collaboratively and creatively. I'm sure many more classes will want to spend more time in our Makerspace Room!
Year 4 Feature As Part of Steve McQueen's New Exhibition You may know that last year Steve McQueen photographed more than 75,000 Year 3 children across London's schools for his latest exhibition. The project aims to be a visual snapshot of people in the city and was inspired after the Turner Prize-winning artist looked at his own 1977 class photo. Our Year 3 Dwight students (now year 4) took part last year and are hoping to visit the exhibition soon. The photos are now being showcased on billboards by roads, railways and train stations across London. The exhibition will run until 3 May 2020.

Forest School This Week! At Forest School it was very chilly and a reminder that it is important to wear the correct clothing.
Two Minute Silence - Remembrance Day On November, 11th at 11am students and staff gathered at the British Legion next to the Spahn Building, in order to commemorate and acknowledge Remembrance Day. This is a day when we remember those people and their families who have served in the military, those that are currently serving and those that may in the future. The date and time are significant because it is the time and date when the guns fell silent and World War One ended. Every year the nation unites to make sure that no-one is forgotten and to remember and honour those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom.

Dwight did a fantastic job against Haberdashers school. The team was both defensively and offensively sound and produced an amazing win of 42-12. Well done Dwight and especially team captain Luke who walked away with 14 points. Thanks to two successful wins, we now sit top of the LISBA North League.
Anti-Bullying Week In this week's assembly we acknowledged that it was Anti Bullying Week and students had the chance to come to school wearing odd socks on Friday. The odd sock initiative is part of Anti Bullying Week and acknowledges how all people are unique and that this should be celebrated!
In the assembly we heard from members of our Student Council, Finn, Manasa and Ethan, who confidently talked about what bullying is, different types of bullying and what to do if we see or experience bullying. We watched a video from the official Anti Bullying organisation and it reminded us to be upstanders rather than by-standers, and to not worry about reporting bullying. We heard how it can be worrying for a young person to report bullying in case there are reprisals, particularly online, however without help or support, it may make it harder to stop the bullying in the long run. We were reminded of the IB Learner Profile and how these ten traits are what we all should strive to be.
