Friday, 10th Dec 2020 FEATURED NEWS Welcome from the Head of School As we head into a well-earned winter break, I want to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone in the Dwight community for their support over the past term. Despite the constraints of COVID-19, we have had a safe, happy and action-packed term.
The students have led the way with their enthusiasm, curiosity and resilience. I would like to thank them all for their kindness and cooperation which has made it a pleasure to be in school each day. I would also like to thank all the parents for their trust and support as we have learned new ways to manage the day-to-day running of the school.
Your encouraging words and partnership with the school has helped us not just to manage, but to thrive. Finally, a huge thank you to all the teachers and support staff who have been positive, flexible, creative and hard working. We have a brilliant team at Dwight, committed to supporting and caring for all our learners; it is a privilege to work alongside them.
I wish you all a safe, happy and restorative winter break and look forward to a bright and fruitful 2021 at Dwight. THIS WEEK AT DWIGHT LOWER SCHOOL Singing all together On Wednesday, we managed to find a way to get the whole Lower School together safely by arranging them in their bubbles outside on the playground. It was fantastic to all be in the same place at the same time.
The students, under the guidance of Mr Mastoridis, Mr Deneux and Mrs Macmull, shared some acting sessions with us and sang O Mio Babbino Caro. We also added a few traditional Christmas songs too! School meals at the start of next term Don't forget that if your child has school meals, you need to pre-order them before the end of the Christmas holiday! You can make your choices for the first week back here.
An art-y party As with last week, we have a few of the amazing creations our students made for an inter-schools Christmas banner competition dotted around this bulletin. Keep your eyes peeled! Year 4 helping the hospice Every year the school votes for specific charities that they would like to support. This year we voted for one local charity and one international one. Our local charity is our neighbour, the North London Hospice.
We often talk about giving these charities three things: our time, our talent and some treasure. Giving treasure (i.e. money) is the standard way to support a charity, but giving time and our talents can be a very positive thing too.
Year 4 took this one step further. They liaised with some of the patients at the North London Hospice and made them a set of Christmas cards to brighten up their days. The hospice contacted us afterwards to say how happy it made their patients!
