C.A.S. NEWS ACTION FOR CONSERVATION will be giving a workshop to Dwight students on JUNE 24th. In the meantime, students may enter a contest for those looking for a summer adventure from July 15-July 19. Deadline for the contest is MAY 30th. Enter To win a place on the AFC Summer Camp 2016 enter our Challenge by answering the 3 short questions below in writing (max 300 words) or by creating a video (max 3 minutes). Email your answers to competitions@actionforconservation.org along with your name, age and the name of your school before the deadline of 30th May 2016 - What environmental problem do you think needs tackling in your local area?
- What ideas do you have to solve this problem?
- How would you get your friends and others in your community to take action with you?
Winners will be announced on the 6th June. If you are selected to attend the camp, You will be sent an information pack, which will include some forms that your parents or guardians will need to sign. If you are selected but unable to attend, AFC will do everything they can to reserve you a place on the camp for the following year. Any other questions? STEM WORLD SUMMER SCHOOL Students can choose to study the following: 25th to 29th July Young Scientists (11-13 year olds) Engineering (13-15 year olds) Chemistry (13-15 year olds) Maths (15-17 year olds) Medical (15-17 year olds) 1st - 5th August Young Scientists (11-13 year olds) Physics with Astrophysics (13-15 year olds) Biology (13-15 year olds) Engineering: Scrapheap Challenge (15-17 year olds) Biomedical Sciences (16-17 year olds) STEM World is hosted by Wycombe Abbey School in Buckinghamshire and attracts students from both the UK and internationally.
Students enjoy a rich variety of stimulating, practical STEM workshops and excursions and can attend either non-residentially or residentially. Exscitec is a Duke of Edinburgh Approved Activity Provider (AAP) and STEM World can be used as the residential choice for students studying for a DofE Gold Award.
