Dear Parents,

Another academic year is nearly ending for us at Dwight School London. We are writing to all the families whose children are currently using the school Transport Services or who may be interested in registering for next academic year 2016/2017.

Please read carefully as, following our family surveys earlier this year, we are introducing three different services and we would like to start planning for that now as new families join the school.

1.    Door-to-Door Service (£765 per term)
This service collects your child at your home and brings him or her to Lower or Upper School and brings your child home at the end of the day. The times may vary slightly over the course of the year as new students come and join the route or others move away from London and leave the school. Students from age four may use this service; younger than four may use the service provided they are accompanied by an older sibling and provided they can manage the journey. (We may require the parents to provide a child seat in this case). Door-to-Door bus users may also register for the late school bus service described below.

2.   Finchley Road Point-to-Point (£550 per term)
This is a new service we are piloting that will serve the Finchley Road corridor. Subject to demand, this may begin at St John’s Wood Station or Swiss Cottage Station. There will be scheduled pick up points designated along the Finchley Road corridor with possible stops at Finchley Road Underground station, Child’s Hill, Golders Green Station, Temple Fortune and at the junction with the North Circular. Drop off will be similarly organised. This route will go to both Lower and Upper School campuses and the start time – to be confirmed as we respond to demand – may be as early as 7.30am.  As this is a new service that we will pilot, stops may be designated according to interest.  Our objective will be to make this as quick and efficient as possible, and to establish scheduled times for collection and drop off for those parents who will meet children. This service is for students aged 4 and above. Point-to-Point bus users may also register for the late school bus service described below.  We are offering our current families a reduced early registration fee of £500 per term for this new service for those who register by 1st July 2016.    After that, the published fee of £550 will apply.

Late Bus Service
We are also piloting a new late bus service for those staying for after school activities.  This service will use the Finchley Road Point-to-Point drop off locations and is available for children aged 5 (Year 1) and above.  This late bus service will be free to all students using either the Door-to-Door or the Point-to-Point Service.  Subject to space requirements, we may open this to other students for a reduced fee for a one-way service.

3.   Shuttle Service between Lower and Upper School and Woodside Park Station (£120 per term, or free for families with children at both campuses)
This is a shuttle bus that runs between Woodside Park Station on the Northern Line to the Upper School.   This service also runs between the Lower and Upper Schools. As this is an increasingly popular service we are introducing a nominal fee to cover the costs of the service, and students must register in advance to enable us to plan for the provision of spaces. This service between Upper and Lower School and vice-versa is free for families who have children at both Dwight Upper and Lower Campuses.

Our Transport Coordinator Michelle Payne works closely with colleagues at The Little Bus Company who provide our bus service. The Little Bus Company ensures that all buses meet health and safety requirements and drivers are vetted to meet health and child safeguarding requirements.

The Point-to-Point Service and the Late Bus are new services we are piloting.  If successful, we hope there may be scope to expand to areas such a Finchley Central. Please note that we require one term’s notice to discontinue any of the bus services.

Please contact the School Transport Office on 020 8920 0638 with any queries. The transport administrator Michelle Payne will be available between 10.40am and 13.40pm daily or you can email your query to mpayne@dwightlondon.org or leave a voicemail.

Please click here to complete the registration ASAP but by no later than 1st July so that we can plan our routes for 2016-17.

We will send out confirmation details about routes and timings just before the Autumn Term begins.

Kind Regards,

Alison Cobbin
Head of School
