Lower School Newsletter

Learning in the Lower School

Welcome back
It was a great first week back in the Lower School. We had over 30 new students join us across all year groups and over 120 returning students. Last week settled back into school routines, getting to know one another and worked together to agree expected behaviours. The students returned enthused and ready to learn. I wish them and you a successful academic year ahead.

Last week the students were introduced to new IBPYP Units of Inquiry. Year 3 started learning about images and how they impact feelings and perceptions. Year 5 started their inquires into different beliefs and values. They will be visiting places of religious significance later this half term. Year 2 are going to be inquiring about healthy lifestyles. Reception and Kindergarten are learning about what makes them so special. Year 1 have been looking at phonics and Year 6 were getting ready for their residential trip to France.

Our After School Activities ( Clubs) start from next Monday September 19th. Click here to view club details. The links to register for each club will go live at 6.00pm today, (Monday 12th). Registration will close at 6.00pm on Wednesday, 14th September. We will then let you know. which clubs your children have successfully joined. If your child is eligible to use the late school bus that has drop points along the Finchley Road Corridor (children that use the point-to-point or door-to-door bus service and wish to use the service, you must register here by Wednesday, 15th September.

LAMDA / Peripatetic
Lamda and Peripatetic Music tuition starts next week. Music lessons can be booked via the website here. We will continue to offer the LAMDA Speech and Drama course to Years 3-6. Children who take part have the opportunity to be entered for LAMDA drama exam, which is a recognised qualification. LAMDA examinations at a higher level can also gain UCAS points to be used for British university application.  More details about LAMDA can be found here. These lessons will take place on Wednesday starting Wednesday 21st with Ms Abi Tallack-Cain.

  • May I ask drivers to be careful during pick up and drop off as the roads are becoming increasingly busy at those times.
  • May I remind families to label their school uniform as we already have several items of lost property already.
  • Please register online for lunches here.
