Upper School Newsletter

Upper School News

Welcome to our new families, and welcome back to our returning families. We had a very successful first week, and students have become very involved in all aspects of school life from the outset. The warm weather has helped things to feel very good, and I am confident that we shall have a great year.

We have a number of new staff, who have also settled in very well and I have heard many nice comments from the students about how much they like them. We are still without Ms. Watson, who is still recovering from her illness, and we do not expect her back within the next few weeks. It is pleasing to hear how many of her former students are in contact with her, and who are wishing her well.

Homework timetables
These are now complete and students in each year group should now be aware of which subjects are to completed on which days of the week. It is advised that copy of the homework timetable is stuck into the front of the planner.

Uniform
It has also been encouraging to see how well the uniform is being worn by most students. Please do help us to ensure that the students comply with the uniform policy, which can be found in the student planner.

Residential Trips 28th September - 30th September
Staff and students are already getting excited about our residential trips at the end of September. Students in all years, except M5, will be enjoying the great outdoors and getting to know their classmates away from the regular routines of school. There are still a few students who have not returned their Bushcraft forms. If you are in M1-M3 and have not already returned the form, please do so as a matter of urgency. The form can be found here.

Coffee Mornings
on Wednesday, 15th September parents of students in M1-M5 are invited to the Dwight Building at 8.40am to join us for a coffee morning. This is very informal, and provides an opportunity to meet other parents.

A second coffee morning will take place the following week (22nd September) at the same time and in the same place. This time it is aim at families with children in the IB Diploma years.

Autumn Fair
We are looking forward to seeing you at the Autumn Fair, which takes place this Saturday, 17th September on the school playing fields in Dale Green Road. This runs from 11.00am until 2.00pm. It is an opportunity to meet other families, meet faculty members and to participate in the various activities that are being organised by the Parents Association and students.

Kind regards

John Hopkins

Upper School Principal
