Upper School Newsletter

After School Activities

Ms Goddard has compiled a  list of the after school activities which are on offer this term which can be found on our website here. Students will be requested to speak with the teachers in charge of the activity if they wish to sign up. If your child is eligible to use the late school bus that has drop points along the Finchley Road Corridor (children that use the point-to-point or door-to-door bus service and wish to use the service, please register here

Staff Update
We will be losing the services of Helen Grey at the end of the month. Helen will be moving on to new opportunities, and will also be taking some time to care for her mother. Ever since I joined Dwight some seven years ago I have relied upon her wisdom and guidance, as have generations of students, parents and teachers. I know that you will all join me in wishing her well.

Sex and Relationships Education (SRE)
We shall soon be beginning our programme of lessons on SRE. These will be presented by two of our teachers - Mr Dacanay and Ms Mills. Whilst we hope that all families are comfortable for the children to participate, may I please remind you of the wording on page 48 of the Upper School Parent and Student Handbook.

Parents have the right to withdraw their sons/daughters from these lessons. In accordance with section 241 of the Education Act (1993), parents have the right to withdraw their children from any, or all, of the School's sex education programme other than those required by the curriculum for science subjects. If you wish to exercise this right for the forthcoming academic year you must contact the PSHE coordinator in writing as soon as possible: Ms Barbara Veschi bveschi@dwightlondon.org

M2 Language A Trip - Tuesday, 20th September

As part of the Language A Language & Literature course M2 students have to complete a project on a "connection" at the British Library and so will visit the library on Tuesday 20th September to participate in a workshop. Students will leave from Dwight Campus at the beginning of period one and return in time for lunch. If they wish to bring a packed lunch, they may. We will be using public transport and so all students MUST have an Oyster card with sufficient funds to get them to and from the library.
