Whole School Newsletter

After 11 years at the helm of Dwight School London, David Rose is leaving Dwight to devote time to his own projects and to start the process of winding down towards retirement. David is the longest serving Head of an international school in London and he has steered Dwight through a time of significant change with great care and skill.

David has distinguished himself as a Head of School who took the time to get to know all students and their families. As he walked through the classrooms, corridors and playgrounds children would sing out a chorus of Hello, Mr Rose! and he was always able to return their greetings by name. Leading by example, he established Dwight London's commitment to personalised learning through his recognition of each child's unique and valuable contribution to the school community. His belief in treating everyone with respect and dignity set the tone for the relationships in the school and the calm, respectful relationships between students and teachers throughout the school are a testament to his leadership.

David has overseen many positive changes in the school, including establishing Dwight as an all through IB school, exclusively offering the IB programmes, with a truly international ethos. Under his leadership the school has gone from strength to strength and bears his personal touch in the positive relationships he has engendered with staff, parents and students and the purposeful learning environment across the school.

I am sure you will all want to join with me in thanking David for the immense contribution he has made to the school and to wish him well for the future.

Open House

Over the next two weeks we are hosting three Open House events to provide prospective families with the opportunity to find out more about Dwight and to have a tour of the school to see us in action during a school day. If you have any friends or colleagues who may be interested in an IB education or would like to find out more about Dwight, please direct them to our school website where they can register for our Open House Events. Current families are also very welcome to join us.

Can you help?

The university admissions process is underway for our D2 students as they are completing applications and preparing their personal statements. Seven of our students are applying to Oxbridge this year and we want to provide them with some interview practice. If you have expertise in Law, Engineering, Medicine, Philosophy or Economics and would be willing to give up an hour of your time to support a student with their Oxbridge application, please contact our University Advisor, Fiona McCaffrey,, who will be delighted to hear from you.

Best wishes

Alison Cobbin
