Dear Parents,

Welcome back after the half term break. We have enjoyed hearing about what the children did during the break.

This week we:

  • reminded the children about the Golden Rules so that they could remember the behavioural expectations in our class.
  • had a lovely time at the Halloween Party - thank you to all of the parents that helped to make it a success.
  • started rehearsing for our Winter Show.
  • welcomed lots of parents into our class for our ACE morning. Hopefully you had a chance to learn through play with your child.
  • made some new learning areas including our deconstructed role play area. The children have lots of resources to use in their play and to develop their imagination and creativity.
  • went on an Autumn walk as part of our forest school learning.

Kindergarten

  • Played a Phase 1 sound lotto game where they had to match animal noises to the correct picture.
  • Read books about using the toilet correctly. They loved I need a wee! by Sue Hendra
  • Reviewed counting, numbers and shapes

Reception

  • Reviewed the Phase 2 sounds that we learnt before the holidays and played full circle.
  • Read a big book about Biff, Chip and Kipper so that the children could begin to recognise the character names. This is an important step in learning to read; using the pictures and words to make accurate guesses.
  • Reviewed numbers, shapes and positional words.

Notices

  • It is time to start thinking about costumes for the Winter Show:
    • Reception will be dressed as children ready to play in the snow. They will need winter gloves, boots, coats, hats and scarves. As it is likely that the children will need to wear such items at that time of year, please ensure they have ALL of these things on the day of the show.
    • Kindergarten children will be snowmen. They will need a large, white T shirt (one that we can stick items on) white tights/leggings and a scarf.
  • Can you ensure reading books and reading diaries are returned to school on Monday/Wednesday and Friday please. (Reception children).
