Condover Hall Netball Trip

Last weekend, our netball squad travelled to Shrewsbury for a 2-day tournament to compete with schools from all over England.

We were lucky that the rain held off for our games and the girls also got to enjoy a number of other fun activities including high ropes, laser maze, trapeze, archery and a silent disco.

The standard of competition was incredibly high and we were playing against schools with many more years of netball experience, we were so proud of our Dwight teams. Our M3-M5 team finished in the middle of their group, defeating the runner up team. Our M2 also did a great job, finishing 3rd in the Year 8 plate.

It was so pleasing to see how the girls conducted themselves both on and off court, displaying excellent sportsmanship and supporting each other.

Thanks to Miss Mills and Mrs. Miley for coaching and accompanying the girls. We are already looking forward to next years trip!

D2 Recital

We look forward to seeing you at the D2 Recital from 7-8pm on Friday, 24th March in Jubilee Hall.

Old Friends

Despite the sadness of the occasion it was a pleasure to see so many former students, parents and colleagues at Ms. Watson's memorial assembly earlier this week. We thank you, on behalf of MacMillan Cancer Support Group, for the donations made to the collection. The proceeds of the D1 drama perfomance this evening will be added to this fund.

Well-being sessions

M4 and M5 students have the opportunity to participate in two more well-being sessions on the 20th March and the 22nd May. If families wish to know content in advance, please contact Ms. Veschi.

D1 Cognitive Ability Tests
The Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT) assesses a student's ability to think and reason. The CAT test is a fully standardised test that is widely used internationally, particularly in the UK and USA by schools as a screening test to interpret students' developed abilities and academic potential. UK qualified professionals in the field of psychology also use CAT tests.

Having carried these out earlier in the school year for students in the Middle Years Programme, we shall be conducting them with D1 students on Tuesday afternoon next week in place of the Assembly/Activities programme.

As soon as the results are processed Ms. Sen will be able to share these with families and staff so as to best determine the approaches to teaching that are advised.

Visiting Author
9th of June will see a visit from Suzanne Leal the author of Teachers Secret to give the school a talk/workshop on book writing and publishing. Students in M1 to M3 are the target audience. Students in other years will have quite a full programme of internal assessments during this time.

Upcoming Trips

On Friday, 24th March, M1 French students will be going to the Institut Francais in South Kensington for the day. They will be attending a workshop about a movie, Les malheurs de Sophie, that they will then watch in the afternoon. This workshop is a language activity where students will be given more cultural background to the movie and an understanding of the main vocabulary. They will also analyse the trailer of the movie, an activity which is very similar to those used in Visual Interpretation tests. The students will need to bring a packed lunch and should be back on time for the end of the school day.
