Learning in the Lower School
It has been another exciting week in the Lower School!
Delightful Dancing!
Throughout this half term the children from Year 1 to Year 6 have completed a section in their PE curriculum that focuses on dance, movement and creativity. On Wednesday, all the groups (and the staff) shared their dance moves during an assembly. This year we made it competitive by adding House points for the best House dance in each year group and the overall winner were the Discoverers.
The students had a great time performing in front of a large audience. We have shared some of the pictures above. There was an eclectic selection of themes for the dances ranging from animals through to conflict. There was also an eclectic mix of music ranging from old film songs through to the modern music of today. To view more photos, please click here.
Red Nose Day
Thanks to all the children that took part in Red Nose Day last week. The Lower School raised £127.50 for this worthy cause - well done!
Auva Superstar
Year 6 student Auva, unfortunately missed out on her Talent Show slot due to a clash of dates. On Tuesday, she shared her talents at our assembly. She is a pianist and she played Tears of Joy, Canon in D, Fantasy in D minor, and Love Story. We are pleased that she got the opportunity to perform as we were very impressed with her talents. She has been playing the piano for over 5 years and she is proof that with commitment, perseverance and dedication you can succeed.
Year 6 Prefect Clubs - Clubs Next Term
Every year we give Year 6 Prefects and Year 6 Student Councillors the opportunity to run a Prefect Club. Each group has to apply with an overview of their sessions and the resources they would need. The Prefect Clubs take place at lunch and last for three weeks.
I am pleased to see that we launched three Prefect Clubs this week. We have a T-shirt Decorating Club, an Indoor Games Club and a Cake Decorating Club. I hope it is a good experience for the students that lead the clubs as well as for those that joined.
Congratulations to Ines S, Josh, Jake, Rebecca, Iria, Yasmina, Ella, Rony, and Shira for organising resourcing and being brave enough to run Prefect Clubs.
On the subject of Clubs our official Term 3 ones open online at 4.00pm today, Friday, 31st March and they close at 4.00pm on Tuesday, 18th April. They will run from May 2nd until June 30th (for 8 weeks) We again have a large selection of clubs for a range of ages. Please click here to select a club for your child.
Fun Run and International Breakfast
We had a fabulous turn out this morning for our Fun Run and International Breakfast. The younger students did laps of the playground with their parents whilst the older students ran around Swan Lane Park. We then all got to enjoy food from around the world at our International Breakfast. So far we have raised £575 from the sponsorship money - Well done everyone. To view more photos, please click here.
