Dear Parents,

This week we:

  • watched our ducklings as they took their first swim. As we gradually introduced them to deeper water, we were also able to see them diving, splashing and playing. We were very sad to see them go back to their farm in Norfolk.
  • did an experiment with water and static electricity where the children could see a stream of water bending towards a balloon.
  • painted our ducklings with hand prints.
  • did lots of drawings including drawing portraits of each other.
  • read lots of books about ducklings, our favourite one is Little Quacks Hide and Seek but we replaced the names of the ducklings in the story with the names of our ducklings.
  • enjoyed the lovely sunshine by spending a lot of time in the garden in the mud kitchen, at the laundry and watering the flowers.
  • noticed that the vegetables in our allotment are starting to grow.
  • did lots of mixing in our potion station.
  • used real tools such as hammers and nails in our workshop area.
  • made a cardboard flat-pack house and painted it together.
  • went on a walk through the allotments.
  • learnt the game called Who Stole the Cookie.

Kindergarten

  • played a game where we passed a ball and had to say a word beginning with a chosen sound.
  • matched pictures and initial sounds.
  • attempted to read CVC (Consonant, Vowel, Consonant) words.
  • counted the number of coins dropped into a jar with their eyes closed.

Reception:

  • wrote words with the 'igh' sound in them and then chose one of those words to write a caption. We tried to remember capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
  • looked at a 100 square and tried to find numbers quickly.

  • wrote posters with instructions about how to take care of ducklings.

  • wrote non-fiction books about ducks.

Notice
  • as the weather looks to be improving, please make sure you apply sun-cream to your child in the morning and provide a hat. We are happy for you to bring a water bottle although the children do have access to water in the classroom.
  • our EYFS assembly will take place on Wednesday, 21st June from 9.00 - 9.30am. You are welcome to join us.

We wish you a good half-term break, see you in June!
