2020/21 has been a tough year and we recognise that during this time, we all had to pull together and support each other through the pandemic as best as we could. Apart from doctors, nurses and carers who have worked so incredibly hard during all those months, let’s not forget about innumerous other people who also rose above themselves making contributions to their communities in their own special ways. And so I am very grateful for the opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to my personal musical lockdown heroes here at Dwight.
All the way through both lockdowns, there has hardly been a weekday without one of those wonderful, inspirational and uplifting morning concerts delivered by our gifted and talented Dwight student musicians. By keeping up your musical efforts despite all virtual barriers and constraints you have delivered eighty of the most amazing performances, making a real difference to our everyday lives and lifting the Dwight community spirit to new heights!
And so, here’s to you, my very personal Dwight Morning Concert Heroes:
Aadi, Alex, Ali, Alexander, Alexandra, Aniela, Amelie, Ariana, Amane, Auva, Basia, Ben, Catarina, Clara B, Clara J, Dea, Elliot, Finn, Herbie, Hina, Hui Lim, Illiana, James, Jan, Jasim, Kade, Katie, Kazuki, Maciej, Manasa, Maria, Neomi, Noah, Sammy, Sofia L, Sofia Z, Tarkan, Tess, Tristan, Tsambika, Yael, Zac, Ms Yang and Mr Deneux.
And there is more exciting news: after the huge success of last year’s split screen music video “Give a little bit” which has attracted more than 4,000 views (and counting) on various social media channels, I am delighted that our new video production premiered on our Youtube channel this morning. “Ipanemic Dwight”, created by students and teachers in an extracurricular music activity during and after the second lockdown in April this year, features singers and instrumentalists across all year groups from Year 6 to DP.
Enjoy and have a great weekend,
