At this time of year, we always have staff and children who are likely to move to different schools in different settings. This year is no different. We are sorry to say goodbye to both Claire Pitts and Sjoerd van den Bosch, who will be moving on at the end of the academic year. Between them, they have over 20 years of experience working for Dwight! Both are highly accomplished teachers who have taught a range of curricula and brought a wealth of experience in international school settings. They have both made a lasting impact at Dwight, teaching a range of ages and leading the school in languages and science.
We would like to take a minute to thank them both for their impact on Dwight, their commitment to teaching and learning, their flexibility, warmth and care for the students. On behalf of the whole community, we wish them both well.
Claire will be joining a school for students with high functioning autism, Asperger's syndrome, and other language, communication and social difficulties. Sjoerd will be returning with his wife and family to Australia, where he will start the next chapter of his teaching career.
Get to know our new staff...
As one door closes, another opens, and we are excited to announce that we have two new teachers joining us: Chris Keller and Anneloes Hobbeling.
Chris currently lives and teaches in California, USA.
"I am very excited to be joining the Dwight community," says Chris. "I’ve become passionate about inquiry-based learning and all things PYP since 2004, when I first taught in the Primary Years Programme in Germany, later in Singapore, and most recently in an international school in California. Over the years, I have taught both primary and secondary grades, covering varying subjects including science, drama, English, and Spanish. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy everything outdoors such as hiking, camping, cycling, and trail running. I also enjoy a bit of photography and traveling."
Anne teaches at our sister school, Dwight Dubai, and was at Dwight School London for two terms whilst training to be a teacher in 2017.
Anneloes says, "I have a BA in International Education for Primary Schools from Stenden University of Applied Sciences in Meppel, The Netherlands. While pursuing my degree, I taught in the Netherlands, Denmark, Kazakhstan and the UK, including Dwight School London. Since completing my degree, I've worked in the Caribbean, and after that, I moved to Dubai where I've been part of the launch of Dwight School Dubai. I was very inspired by my time teaching at Dwight and am excited to rejoin the Dwight community in London. I'm originally from the Netherlands and speak Dutch, English and German."
We look forward to welcoming Chris and Anne in August, ready for September. Please note that towards the end of the school year we will be sharing next year's class list too.
