Transport

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are committed to finding the best solution for the provision of school transport that meets Government guidelines on health and safety. This requires ongoing planning, as we do not yet know what those guidelines will be in September. Dwight’s Senior Leadership Team is evaluating and considering various options that will enable us to provide a viable school transport service. If social distancing measures are still in place, we may have to look at alternatives to our usual bus routes, and there may be some additional costs for the service until things return to "normal". The school is willing to meet families halfway on any additional costs. We will continue to work with parents over the summer as the situation evolves and make known the arrangements and the fees when we have more clarity.

The Dwight School London offers two transport services all provided by qualified, well-trained drivers. Many of our services are outsourced to The Little Bus Company. Spaces are normally allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

1. Door-to-Door Service
A service from home to school. Students from age four may use this service; younger than four may use the service provided they are accompanied by an older sibling and provided they can manage the journey. (We may require the parents to provide a child seat in this case).

2. Shuttle Service between Lower and Upper School and Woodside Park Station
This is a shuttle bus that runs between Woodside Park Station on the Northern Line to the Upper School. This service also runs between the Lower and Upper Schools. There is a nominal fee to cover the costs of the service, and students must register in advance with the transport office. This service between Upper and Lower School and vice-versa is free for families who have children at both Dwight Upper and Lower Campuses.

3. Public transportation links

The school is served by several public bus routes. Please note that students are eligible for free travel on London buses and reduced travel fees on the London Underground. Please see a map with public bus routes by clicking here.

Our Transport Coordinator Michelle Payne works closely with colleagues at The Little Bus Company who provide our bus service. The Little Bus Company ensures that all buses meet health and safety requirements and drivers are vetted to meet health and child safeguarding requirements.

Please contact Michelle Payne in the School Transport Office on 020 8920 0638 / mpayne@dwightlondon.org with any queries.
